A Small Adventure Trip

This incident took place about two weeks back. I finally decided to get rid of my laziness and do a little typing... :)

It was Friday, and I left for home early. Had no work and was feeling kinda low. Got myself an ice cream from a shop near my house. I expected and empty apartment, but was surprised to find two of my room-mates(Princess and Baby Girl)! Both were sleeping.

I watched "Provoked" on my laptop.Great movie...and hats off to Ash!

Princess wasn't feeling well and hadn't eaten anything for the past 24 hours. She was hungry. So I asked her if there was anything specific she felt like eating. She thought for sometime and said momos and burger. Hearing this, Baby Girl had a sudden craze to eat burger in Mc Donald's. It was around 5pm. Princess wouldn't go without taking bath. So by 6 we were ready to leave, and then it started to pour. The weather was calm before that. Worse comes to worse, we had only one umbrella, and it was mine, coz Princess left hers in office and Baby Girl had lost hers. So we decided to borrow one from aunty. We got the umbrella-and old fashioned black long one with a pointed steel end. P and BG were fighting as to who would carry it around in Garuda Mall. Oh yes, I forgot to mention our agenda. It was Garuda Mall's food court for momos and then Brigade Road for Mc Donald's burger. Neither would give up their cravings. While they were arguing, BG came up with a brilliant idea. She said we could leave the umbrella at Shopper's stop baggage counter, go eat and collect it before leaving.

So we went out in the rain, searching for an autorick. Nobody was ready to go to Garuda, and later we realized it was because of the heavy traffic due to rains and the metro construction. Anyways, we got an auto finally. P couldn't close the umbrella after getting into the auto she was sitting at the open end and holding it when the auto started. Wish the umbrella hadn't closed at all. You'll find out why. With BG's help, she managed to close it.

Rain stopped as soon as we entered the auto.BG with her prior experience suggested that we lift our legs and place them on the rods behind the driver's seat to prevent water from spilling and wetting our legs. The auto was moving inch by inch. Roads were heavily crowded, but we were optimistic. We started singing, shooting videos of each other and taking pics. It was fun!

And then, a Red Maruti Swift came along and gave P a nice shower. Poor Princess!!! I bet she must have wished that the umbrella never closed. She started wailing and wanted to return home. We shushed her and asked her to be a sport. I would have loved it if i was in her place. Anyways, we didn't stop cursing that Red Maruti Swift, or any other red car that zoomed past us.

We did reach our destination finally. What about the umbrella? We had it of course. P was trying her best to hide it with her dupatta. Finally it was time to act out BG's plan. The Shopper's Stop baggage refused to take it. We were in a fix. Plan A had failed. It was time to act out Plan B, which we didn't have! Now it was Dream Queen to the rescue. I suggested that we ask the Security Guy at the base of the elevator. BG used her "girltitude" and he agreed to keep it on the condition that we would return in an hour. We promised we would.

Finally, the grand feast. My craze for Chinese food didn't allow me to resist. I ordered noodles for myself. P had fried rice and of course, momos-the sole reason for our presence. BG decided to discard the idea of having burger and ordered noodles for herself.

We hogged like we hadn't eaten for ages. BG couldn't stop herself from suggesting another brilliant idea. It's a disease, really! She said ," Let's wrap the momo chutney in a tissue paper and take it home. We can have it with chapati tonight." We didn't implement it finally. We would have taken it if we had a plastic cover.

After having our fill, we collected our umbrella from the Security Guy, mumbled a "Thanks" and walked out of Garuda Mall. You should have seen the smile on P's face and the pride with which she was carrying the umbrella now. She wanted to go home in an auto. We asked several ones but none would take below 80 bucks. It would have costed us only about 20-25 bucks by the meter. So we managed to convince her to take a bus.

We waited and waited. An over-crowded one came along. We decided to wait for another one. The second one came after 10mins in the same condition. We got in and managed to pay the fare. Obviously there were no empty seats. We had reached heights of optimism that night, so we had an out"standing" journey. Loved the bumps and bad roads...seriously!!! And our endlessly blabbering mouths didn't rest even after dosmounting. BG wanted to have her favorite paani-puris. Even i love them, but right now I didn't feel like having any. She had paani-puris and I had some juice. Meanwhile, P was posing proudly with her umbrella, displaying it as if it was some antique showpiece. We didn't fail to capture any of the moments. People around us thought we had gone crazy or something, but who cares! None of them know us.. :)

That was the end of Friday. How can I forget to mention our fourth room-mate Surili. She was at home, ready to hear every bit of out little adventure, with her melodious and dramatic reactions.

Friday over. I lost my purse for the second time next day. Yes, the second time in 2 weeks!! I think I've learnt my lesson now...
